Momentum Intervention Project

The Momentum Project : Men survivors of sexual abuse in childhood

One in ten boys is a victim of sexual assault before the age of 18 in Quebec. Given the social taboos associated with this issue, men survivors of childhood sexual abuse take on average more than 40 years before disclosing, and the services that are ready to welcome them once they do remain scarce. Given the acute need for services targeting this clientele specifically, the TRACE laboratory is involved in setting up and evaluating a therapeutic intervention group aimed at promoting the psycho-relational well-being of men survivors of sexual abuse in childhood - the Momentum intervention. This unique project is offered in the city of Gatineau, in collaboration with the Sexual Abuse Intervention Center for the Family, Professor Jean-Martin Deslauriers (University of Ottawa) and Professor Martine Hébert (University of Quebec in Montreal).
